Harmonic is a component of a periodic wave having a frequency that is an integral multiple of the fundamental power line frequency of 50 Hz. For example, 150 Hx (3 x 50 Hz) and 250 Hz (5 x 50 Hz) is a 3rd and 5th order harmonic of the fundamental frequency. Depending on the impedances available on local grid, harmonic penetration level THDu > 3%, with corresponding THDi > 30% is generally a cause for serious consideration as these prevalent harmonics can interact with current network impedances to create a resonance circuit.
Now you can resolve power quality and harmonic distortion issues with ELCO Systems’ MV Solutions and Fault Current Limiting Solutions.
