Electrical Components Sdn. Bhd., established in 1978, initially branded as “Electrical Components,” faced challenges due to its generic and lengthy name, often abbreviated by local clients to “EC.”
As the company aimed to extend its reach beyond domestic markets, confusion arose when attempting to market its products internationally under the “CE” marking.
To distinguish itself in a competitive landscape, the company underwent a rebranding initiative in 2002.

The new brand name, ELCO, cleverly derived from “Electrical” and “Components,” was accompanied by a fresh logo. This rebranding coincided with a strategic opportunity in the market, leveraging the void left by the cessation of production by a prominent competitor, ATCO capacitors. ELCO swiftly gained traction, particularly in the PFC lighting capacitor market in the early 2000s.
Over subsequent years, ELCO has achieved significant international success, bolstered by active participation in global electrical exhibitions. Expanding its product portfolio to include 3-phase power capacitors, ELCO initially focused on metal box construction before developing its own line of cylindrical capacitors. Today, ELCO has firmly established itself across ASEAN countries and Greater Asia. Looking ahead, ELCO seeks to further expand its presence into the energetics sector, inviting prospective partners in renewable energy to collaborate and grow together.
